Adding a Cover Page to Your Fax
Updated July 24, 2026
A cover page is the first page the recipient sees. It says who the fax is for, who sent it, and why — essential when faxing to a shared office machine.
Adding one
When composing your fax, enable Add cover page and fill in:
- To — the recipient's name or department ("Attn: Billing Dept")
- From — your name or company (defaults to your account's sender name, which you can set in Settings)
- Subject — one line about the content
- Message — an optional short note
The cover page is generated automatically in a clean layout and added as page one. It counts as a page for pricing.
When to use one
- Faxing to any shared machine (offices, hospitals, government) — the cover page routes it to the right person
- Legal or medical submissions where a case/claim number must be visible up front
- Any time you'd otherwise scribble a note on the first page
When to skip it
Faxing a single form to an automated intake line? Skip the cover page and save a page's cost — many form-processing systems ignore or discard them.
