What Is SendFax.me and How Does It Work?
Updated October 10, 2026
SendFax.me lets you send and receive real faxes from any browser — no fax machine, no phone line, no software to install, and no subscription.
How it works
- You upload a document (or write one in the built-in editor).
- We convert it to fax format and transmit it over the telephone fax network through carrier-grade infrastructure.
- The recipient's fax machine (or fax service) receives a completely normal fax.
- You get a delivery confirmation and a downloadable transmission report.
To the machine on the other end there is no difference between your fax and one sent from a physical fax machine.
What you can do
- Send faxes to 29 countries, paying per page with no monthly fee
- Receive faxes with your own dedicated fax number
- Send faxes by email from your private email-to-fax address
- Fill & sign documents in the browser before faxing
- Add cover pages, schedule sends, and keep a contacts book
- Download transmission reports as delivery proof
Who it's for
Anyone who needs to fax occasionally without owning a machine: medical forms, legal documents, government paperwork, insurance claims, business orders. Because pricing is pay-as-you-go, you only ever pay for the pages you actually send — see pricing on the homepage.
Frequently asked questions
›Is this a real fax or an email pretending to be a fax?
A real fax. Your document is transmitted over the telephone fax network, and the receiving machine treats it exactly like a fax from a physical machine.
›Do I need to install anything?
No. Everything runs in the browser, on desktop and mobile. On a phone you can also add SendFax.me to your home screen so it opens like an app: in Safari tap Share, then Add to Home Screen; in Chrome open the menu, then Add to Home screen.
›Is there a subscription?
No. You top up credit and pay per page. Credit never expires. The only recurring charge is the optional dedicated fax number at $3.99/month, if you choose to rent one.
