Getting Your Own Fax Number to Receive Faxes

Updated July 24, 2026

To receive faxes you need your own number. SendFax.me rents you a dedicated fax number for $3.99/month, charged from your credit balance.

Getting a number

  1. Top up your balance (you need at least $3.99 credit for the first month).
  2. In the dashboard, open the fax number section and pick a number.
  3. It's yours immediately — anyone can fax it from any machine or service worldwide.

Receiving

Incoming faxes land in your dashboard Inbox as PDFs, and you're notified by email. You can also set a forwarding email in Settings so every received fax is delivered straight to your mailbox as an attachment.

Renewal and cancellation

  • The monthly fee auto-renews from your credit balance.
  • If your balance can't cover a renewal, the number is suspended (not lost) — top up and it reactivates automatically.
  • You can cancel anytime; the number is released at the end of the paid period.

Do you need one?

Only if people need to fax you. Sending faxes never requires a number — recipients see a standard sending identification, and delivery confirmations come to your email.
